Well I just got back from a two week adventure to Zion, Bryce, Antalope, Arches, and Coyote Buttes national parks and was completely blown away by the beautiful scenary. My favourite overall was Bryce but all 5 spots were fantastic. I took 8 rolls of slide film, 3 rolls of black and white and 16GB of digital. I did a quick search for favourite parks on here but couldn't find a specific topic. So I'd like to ask users on here what is there favourite national park? I can't wait to work with my images in the upcoming weeks :)

Out of the ones I have been to I would have to say Yellowstone and then Rocky Mountain National Park. I really want to go to Denali National park though. We were going to go to Acadia this summer but had a change of plans, but I think that would have been a great place.

Antelope you say.... Sounds like the test shooter for the D95 has been on NR all along! :)
Haven't been to any in memorable years (since a young kid) except Carlsbad, I really need to plan an epic roadtrip.

My favorite so far that I have been to is Glacier National Park.

I lived 30 miles from the Utah border in Colorado and I never made it to Zion or Bryce. Wish I would have gone. I went to Arches, Canyon lands and a Utah State Park called Goblin Valley. I have actually been to lots of them all over, but I dig the mountains and wildlife.
and looking at a map of them I have to add Grand Tetons was neat.

Mount Rainier in Washington State. They are all incredible places to visit (the natioal parks)but my first time on Mount Rainier i stood in the alpine meadows and it was flowers of every color for as far as the eye could see and wildlife all over waiting to be photographed. That is my little slice of heaven on earth.

America sure does have a lot of great parks. Antelope Canyon was a special spot although the Navajo who own the land charge a lot for tours. I ended up paying $48 for one hour! Most of my shots have people's legs or other garbage that I will have to photoshop out but I did manage to get a few clean shots. Everyone wants to shoot in Antelope now and I could see why. Yes Washington State has some great spots as well. The state of Utah has an embarrassment of riches! Seriously the spots are unreal for photography. Bryce for me will always be extra special.

Well, I've never really been to the western U.S., although I'm making plans to make the rounds out there. My favorite park right now is Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Although the scenery may not be as awe inspiring as some of those out west, the photo ops with the myriad plants and animals make it a great place to wag camera gear.

I'm in Calgary Alberta Canada, which is close to 3 epic National parks.
Banff - 6,641 km² (2,564 sq mi) - established in 1885
Jasper - 10,878 km² (4200 sq mi)- established in 1907
Waterton - 505 km² (203 sq mi) shares border with Glacier National park in Montana.

Beautiful, Regulator. My parents just got back from Banff and Glacier, but I haven't seen what pictures my dad got yet.

I will see what I can scrounge up when I get home. They blocked Flickr here at work :( Funny I have been to Waterton, Canada and Glacier, but I don't really remember them much. It really wasn't all that long ago that I went, but I want to go back and get some pictures this time. I want to say the weather was terrible with low clouds covering the mountains through glacier and we couldn't see a whole lot.

Stunning shots, Regulator...
My favorite park so far has been Yellowstone, but I haven't been to Rocky mountain & Glacier National parks which are very highly rated. I've been to Denali, but still found Yellowstone far more beautiful both from a landscape & wildlife perspective.Posted 2 years ago # -

Wow beautiful pictures! Its going to take me a while to run my 16 GB and 10 rolls of film through lightroom, photoshop and Noise Ninja but judging from the back of my D700 LCD I think I have some of my best images that I have ever taken as far as scenary goes. These locations had everything from Lightening strikes, unreal sunsets, and nice cloud formations. Wish I had some time off work to work with the images! haha
By the way, I hear the Smokey mountains have great mist and dramatic skies to shoot in the early mornings.

Very nice pics, kanuck. I'm a newbie to this forum and DSLR in general. Just got back last night from Upper Antelope Canyon and Monument Valley. I'm glad I was able to visit UAC, but never again in the summer! We were there Saturday the 7th, and the place was jammed. Paid extra for the photography tour but it made no difference. Guides informed us that the UAC and LAC were closed the day before due to rain, and the LAC was still closed. Result: 3-4 times as many people as there are normally this time of year (45 min in line to park car). I got some decent wall shots (for me) looking up, but that was about it. Literally had to wait in line half way inside like a bathroom que at a sporting event, and I don't mean to allow for photographers setting up ahead of us - claustrophobic. Will go again another year in late fall or early winter. Monument Valley was very nice however. But our weather was too good for the two days there. Wish we had some storms/lightning to capture on digital.

Thanks geoffm. Yes the weather was touch and go while I was there. I got stuck in a washed out road during a flash flood in Coyote Buttes and this lightning picture caused me troubles as well as my rental car got stuck on the road and I had to rock it front and back to escape back to the highway...

Re your posted UAC sunbeam shot above, which looks like it was shot around noon-1PM: where are the people? Were you allowed in there without anyone else? Looks like it. What's your secret? Great photo. What gear do you use?
If you were there when I was, you couldn't see the walls for the crowds. :-)

I have been in over 250 USA National Parks and monuments. My favorites are in Alaska and in Maine Acadia. The Adirondack Park is very photogenic as well but is not (alas) a National Park. I consider myself fortunate I get to see another National Park! Denali in Alaska is a must see!
