While I don't usually like reversed-type sites, I've always actually liked the bright yellow-on-black theme used here. It's kind of like a black Nikon body--it looks "professional." Plus, the red 'NR' logo really pops on black. But the new white background looks good too! "Clean and airy."
I know what the readability studies say, but both versions look good, Admin. Due to typeface choice and leading dimensions, this site is easily readable to my eyes, while I find DPreview very tedious to read (I think because their leading is simply too tight). Or, perhaps, grey type on pure white might be a nice change of pace. I am biased in that I think neutral greys look "sophisticated" and modern (the interior walls in my house are either pure white, 18% grey, or made of T6061 aluminum). And perhaps the black here may be more reminiscent of a Nikon FM, than a "new generation of Nikons." But, just pick which one you like best!
