Seems that there have been discussions about people's display names (e.g. Warprints, NikoDoby, etc.) in the past, but I couldn't find it with a search.
Lately, I've seen some new interesting names in the forum - if you wish to share how or why you came up with the name, which I'd like you to do, this here's the thread for it.

(Niko - is this getting too personal for the forum? I'll ask people to refrain from sharing any "colorful" details about their display name :-) )

Mine is rather bland. Warprints came about when I did some graphic design, and combines my initials with "prints" - stuck with it. Logo was several stick of dynamite with a lit fuse -- which I dropped after 9/11

Fun thread, warprints. I always wondered what the war meant.

Mine comes from a nickname I had from a poetry club in high school. It was my first email username in the '90s and I've kept it since.

Mine came from the photo agency that I contributed images to and was owned by a friend of mine back in the '80's. When my friend decided to get out of the business, I bought the agency, including logo, trademarks and copyrights from him and assumed the name.

Mine is from an original work email id (mid-80's) where we used a "first three of the first name, first three of the last name" pattern for our system/email ids.

I have always kept it as it seems pretty easy for me to remember...

Kyoshi is my first name and the word nikon came for obvious reasons as I insistently talk about nikon gear with my friends...

NSX - if you have one, and you find yourself in south Louisiana, I'll trade a ride in your NSX for a ride on my VFR. (Local Honda dealer owns an NSX, not Type-R, and alsmost never drives it. What a shame.)

Recent Convert: having converted after 40 years of film use (2 Konica Autoreflex T2s + 5 Hexanon lenses) to a D700 with (so far) 3 lenses (14-24, 50/1.4 and 70-300VR). My conversion occured 1 year ago, so the "Recent" is relative, but I will stick with the nick for the time being.

So I made up the name Krevlin Goodspeed, partly based on sounding Russianish and from the movie The Rock.

I was looking for something unique and figured if I spelled Nixon backwords it would be uniqueish and not sound too bad. If we were going for vehicles I would have gone with GSXStage1 but I sold my GS455 Convertible (non stage 1) long ago... Still have my Katana though...

That's a good mark, LensWork! I like it! I chose "studio460" because it's generic enough to cover a number of different enterprises: design work, music production, photography, and filmmaking. I waited for over a year for the URL to be released, and although not yet "launched" (there's just a lame placeholder title page there now), I now own the URL, finally! The numbers "460" are a personal reference. Publicly, I tell everyone that "460" is 100-degrees "more rad" than "360." I know, kinda too inside.

"Foofie" is the word my mom's side of the family uses for farts (for little kids) and when I was a little kid I farted a lot (like so many little kids do) and I'd always make up names for myself like foofiemonster or foofieman, and when I was playing diablo II in middle school/high school (probably) that was one of the names (foofiebeast) I would use for characters. It's not one of my more professional account names, but I like it just the same. I think it encourages people to not take anything I say too seriously. Is this true? (i've never asked...)

some of my others were/are: ZuluEdison (name of first cat+street I was born on), sumkala (first part of first name (sum-ner) and first parts of middle and last names).

Its simple for me... its as written.. I like fishing but have not done so for a while.. and I think im a hearty fella! .. you can catch me on pogo.com playing chess from time to time. where the "fisher" takes on a different meaning :-) course the spelling is wrong then.

On the last part, isn't that the formula for your porn name. Use name of your first pet plus street you live on.

Haha, that'd be awesome if I owned a NSX. I said it was one of my favorite cars, I didn't say I owned one. :D
