Ive seen several posts on here about people getting their gear stolen. I'm just currious on what the circumstances were on the incidences.
Now, I'm not saying that anyone who got their gear stolen was their fault, but maybe we all can learn something on how to protect our gear form others misfortune or bad luck.

I had my D300 stolen out of a car because I didn't know it was out of my bag. We were on a trip and I had gotten in out to take some pictures at a park. I guess I didn't put it back in my bag, and it must have been sitting at the bottom of the car. The car was locked overnight and I realized it was missing in the morning, so it might have happened when we stopped to buy some groceries in a small town.
Not personal experience, but there's a really popular place for weddings in my city (I shoot there a few times a year), and last year there was a rash of cameras/bags stolen when photographers would leave them on a bench while setting up a shot or even out of their car. There's a pretty funny part of the story, though—one of the local news stations went to do a story on the thefts and...wait for it...the photographer had a camera stolen while on the assignment!
Here's the story so you know I'm not making it up:

No need to start yet another stolen equipment thread. Let's keep the discussion going on the threads that are already going on.
