Ive read about the blinking green light of death but I dunno if this is the same problem or not..... when I have the camera turned off, battery and memory card still in the camera, the green light keeps blinking but when I turn the camera back on....it works fine. Is the the BGLOD or something different?

Is the camera still saving photos to the card? I mean how long after you've taken a picture or turned it off does it blink for? Is the camera frozen or does it respond normally?

yes the camera still saves the photos to the card just fine. And to the best of my knowledge its just keeps blinking because the way I found out about the problem was my battery kept dying with the camera turned off (im guessing because of the card reader light blinking non-stop)

But you see the light still blinking after you turned off the camera even though you haven't taken a picture? If the light comes on only after you turn the camera off then that's not normal.

Try removing the card and turning it on then. If the problem goes away without the card inserted, it could be a faulty card or card slot. Just a guess.

I am praying to the Nikon Gods that this does not happen to me!
Luckily my 2 hot pixels went away!
I'm in love with my D90. I might buy it a battery grip.

I know some D90's have suffered from BGLOD (Blinking Green Light of Death) but this doesn't sound like that problem. If the camera doesn't freeze up then it's not BGLOD but something else.

I have 2 different cards for my camera and it just started one day with both cards. Both cards are totally empty, no pictures on them and yes, if I remove the card with the camera off the light stops blinking and it does the same with both cards. What are the chances that BOTH cards are bad??

And no, the camera is mainly used by my mom and she says that it never froze or acted funny at all and this problem just started one day. It just blinks and blinks till the battery is dead unless you remove the card.

That is really weird, mxnickj. I'd get it looked at. Is it still under warranty?

No, ive had it more than the year warranty period. How would I go about contacting Nikon for service?

Depends on where you're from. Just go to your country's Nikon website and follow their link for service.
