I shot a wedding over the weekend with a new d3s. at least half the time the preview image was slow to display. and I mean like 4 to 8 seconds to display. much of the time the weather was wet and cold. sometimes the camera and the photographer were wet and cold, but I could never prove there was a direct correlation with the moisture. Anyone have similar results with slow preview.

Were you shooting at long-ish exposures? Noise reduction will cause the camera to take a while before it shows the preview. For example if you took a 4 or 8 second exposure then it'll take about another 4 or 8 seconds before the image appears on the LCD with noise reduction turned on.

NikoDoby, my exposures were 1/60 or faster. I do have noise reduction enabled. I do think there was some correlation to the moisture. I cant duplicate the problem today in the studio. I know this will sound dumb but could there be an elevation factor? I was at 8000 ft.

peterd - elevation shouldn't be a problem at all, I was using digital camera at higher elevations and never faced a problem

Yeah these cameras are floating around in space so I doubt a few thousand feet will hurt anything.

What kind of memory card were you using? Perhaps it's an issue with your card and not the camera?

sandisk extreme pro 32gb. a portion of the time the preview was near instant as i would expect, but other times and I guess much of the time it was very slow. It seems fine now. I have never had 5 to 10 seconds feel like so long as when the groom is looking at you saying "are we done?, did you get it?"
