I have the Sigma 150 f2.8 macro, love the lens. Eventually I plan to get a Nikon 300 f4 as well, assuming Nikon doesn't come out with something better. I would like to be able to use a 1.4, and possibly a 1.7 teleconverter with both lenses. Will the Nikon TC-14E II work with the Sigma, or would I have to go with the Sigma teleconverter.
Will a Nikon 1.4 Teleconverter work with a Sigma 150 f2.8 macro lens

No, Nikon teleconverters only work with AF-I & AF-S type lenses. The Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG Macro is a screw-drive lens.

If you want a good TC to use with screw driven lenses, like the Sigma get the Kenko 1.4X TC.

The Sigma 150 macro is AFS, I wouldn't have bought it otherwise. Granted, I don't use auto focus much for some reason. So perhaps the question is will a Sigma AFS lens work with a Nikon 1.4 teleconverter.

The Nikon Teleconverters need to be modified in order for them to fit onto Sigma HSM lenses.

Oh and Sigma TCs won't fit onto Nikon Lenses ;)

Thanks all, shame Sigma didn't emulate the Nikon lens mounts to exactly match what Nikon was doing.

I think Kenko TCs fit on both Nikon and Sigma lenses but don't know for sure.
Anyways I use a modified Nikon 1.7X TC and it works nicely with my two Sigma lenses (180mm Macro and 300-800mm Sigmonster), actually it works better than the Sigma TCs because the modified Nikon TC still allows me to remote manual focus on the Sigmonster whereas the Sigma ones block remote manual focus as soon you get above F/5.6 max. Aperture with the lens / TC combo.Posted 2 years ago # -
I use a 7 element Kenko 1.4tc with my Sigma 150. I got that TC because its the only one that works with the 80-400 which I was intending to get at some point. All the electronics work fine through the TC as well.

Curious about the Kenko teleconverters too... from what I've found searching these forums, it seems the Sigma TCs don't mesh with Nikon glass, and all I've found about Nikon TCs with Sigma glass involves modifying the Nikon TC (something I wouldn't want to do with it if I don't have to). Sounds though like the Kenkos might work on both, and if I already have a Nikkor 70-200 and am considering the Sigma 120-300, this is very relevant to me.

I've used a Kenko 1.4 DGX on a Nikon 300/4 AF-S and on a Sigma 150-500 OS, so yes they will fit both.
And I realise that Sigma's not an ideal lens to put a TC on, but the point is it fitted (and even attempted autofocus).

Hopefully that means it'll autofocus with an f/2.8 lens. That is sort of pleasantly surprising it actually tried autofocusing with a lens that slow though!

I have the Kenko pro 300 1.4 TC
-I have used it on my Nikon 70-20 Sigma 50mm macro Sigma 24-70 lenses without any (as of yet) problem.
