Good!! If some people would be invading my privacy while I am at home or shooting me with telezooms through my window as I am taking a shit or having sex with my hot celebrity girlfriend/wife. Screw these guys!!

California already has some anti-paparazzi laws. Doesn't really stop them though.

Then in that case having brute security guys might help. Or perhaps there's now a market for a mini pocket EMP device. Celebrities would love that.

Actually there is a device that works like a flash to blind paparazzi and there is also apparently some kind of laser that detects a camera's sensor(?!?) and then shoots a laser at the camera to blind the photographer!
Flash device

Or just hire Jody Foster to punch their lights out (pun intended).

So if that laser is strong enough to obliterate an image on the photographers CCD, I wonder if it would have any effect on his/her eye when they are looking through the viewfinder?
PS The way the news writeup is written it sounds like it would impact a private eye on a surveillance mission as well. I wonder if Tiger will move to Cali now...

I thought about it too, but aren't PI-s licensed?

Why can't this be offered to all members of the public and not those that get paid to be in the public eye.
If you don't like it don't be a celebrity.

The bigger worry for me here is when is the legal perception of "paparazzi" going to affect street and journalistic photography. I've already been labeled a paparazzi many times (including by an officer) just for taking candids. I find the activities of many paparazzi both repulsive and often just vulgar but as a street photographer often get labeled as one because I have a "pro" camera but am not a tourist or "fashion" photographer.
