Hey, I'm glad you got back your camera. Honestly, I really don't like repairs. My PS3 was repaired twice, and each time it was Sony "re-certified". They can label it however they want, but it's still been refurbished. I sent in a new machine, I want a new machine back.
I'm sure you're still a bit annoyed at that too, considering how new it was.
I bought a 50mm 1.4 secondhand for my OM1 back in the day, but on close examination I found it had a cluster of three air bubbles in the centre of the front lens group. I called Olympus and they told me to bring it in to their London repair centre. When I arrived I was shown inot the workshop where I stood and watched a technician disassemble and reassemble my lens using all the correct tools and a lot of skill. They gave me back a lens that was better than new and charged me nothing even though the lens was not new when I bought it.
I wouldn't worry too much about your camera, I think you can have faith in the appointed repair centres doing the job right as they have the training, tools and parts to do the job right.
It's usually my luck to get a problem with stuff I buy though, so maybe you and I are related. ;-)

Thanks, NSX! I'm trying not to think about it. I had 2 shoots this wknd and the camera worked beautifully so I guess that's all that matters now.
I'm going to revive this thread from the dead.
I just dropped my D3 off at NPS in El Segundo...
I was in the process of selling the camera...I was physically with the buyer as he was checking the camera out, when it up and died. No power, no lcds, nada.
Took it straight to NPS...they said they haven't heard of such a thing before. They would look into it. potential cost of $470 to fix it. I've never had an issue with this body since buying it new 3 years ago...only has 17k on the shutter.
Needless to say its a huge bummer, but Im well out of warranty....I can only hope its something so off the wall they decide to cover it. Regardless the buyer says he is still interested when the camera is fixed. I'll hopefully know more tomorrow.
Murphy's Law man...this couldn't have happened when I was actually shooting with it...had to happen in front of some dude I never met before as I was trying to get him to buy it.
Sorry, Sarlacc! This is a nightmare I have every time I set up a meet-up on craigslist to sell something. I hope it works out for you. Welcome to the forum.
