Hey, i just had a neat idea for a shot but i don't know what to call the thing i need.

I need a thing(?) that replaces the battery and connects to wall power to allow me to shoot all night.

i was pretty sure this exists but after some futile google searches i'm now less sure. I had always though the little hatch next to the battery compartment was for this purpose.

What i want to do is a long exposure timelapse overnight. 20-30s exposures over 6-9 hours.

So am i hallucinating or is this a thing?

I think you want the EP-5 power supply connector and the EP-5a power supply, gelu.

Exactly what i was looking for.

Though the price is ridiculous, and it seems that the demand for this is too low for the chinese ebay knockoffs.

$75+$35=$110= wayy to much

Sigh, one more overpriced accessory to justify...

unless you are planning to stay up all night as well, you also need (or maybe you already have one) an intervalometer.

I didn't realize the power supply connectors are so much, I guess I also assumed there'd be chinese knock off ones...

foofie the adapter works for the D90, D300 and D700, but for lower end cameras it also requires a battery adapter. Thus 75+35

And i use a free app to control my Camera for timelapse

though the site seems down for now.

it does Bracketing, timelapse and simple tethered shooting, and does a good job replacing the very overpriced (see a trend?) Nikon control software.

Man, you would imagine a D90 would come with one in camera. That's so stupid.

but if you are choosing between shooting with either the 90 or the 60, why not just use the 90, that way you can get the "cheaper" cable.

and yes these prices (ESPECIALLY THE d90 one, it's just an ac cable....) are absolutely ridiculous.

here is another option. I know there are lots of third party battery grips, do any of those have ac adapters? that might be a decent route, I know a few of those have built in intervalometers as well.

Oh, i didn't make this clear, i don't own a D90 yet, Though i'll buy one or a D8000(or whatever) in the next few months.

But i figured id still ask info for the D90

sorry for the confusion

And yea, i checked all the diffrent Grips, but none of them have any wording about a AC input.
