Trivial pursuit : What is the most expensive nikkor lens below 300mm?

I love the 24-70 range and wanted the speed and I couldn't handle the weight of the 70-200 anymore. The newer VR 2 is even heavier. I'd love to have an F4 Canon style 70-200 with similar wait, but for now the 70-300mm is great for what I do.

By the way, NSXType-R did you finish school yet? I remember you were saying you are close no?

I was asking about you. How much lighter is the 24-70 anyway? I don't think it's significantly lighter. And no, I haven't finished school yet. I'm on summer vacation but taking summer courses.

Unfortunately not a lot lighter, but this is a more useful range for my work I find. I wish Nikkors were all a little lighter thats for sure.

Yeah, that's a good bit wider than 18mm on DX, that should be a very useful range.

(Don't worry about me, I think in DX, not FX now.)

The 24-70 on a DX body should be weird though. Not quite wide enough, not quite long enough. Just blah.

This is way off of the original topic, but since you brought it up, in my experience, the 24-70 on a DX body is a very useful range for court-side basketball. Shooting the near court, the effective focal length range of 36-105 is well suited from near the basket to the three-point line.

Agree with you.. in the old film days many people had 3 prime lenses and many had the 35,50 and 105. That 24-70 range IS a great range for DX.

Agreed 100%. I use the 35-70 f/2.8 nikkor on my Dx bodies as it is a great drive by shooter. The combo has many uses...
