Seems to be that the d3200 and the d5200 have got different 24-MP-Sensors. The format of the d3200-sensor is 23,2 mm to 15,4 at 24,2 MP, the format of the d5200-sensor is 23,5 mm to 15,6 mm at 24,1 MP. The picture-size is different to: 6016x4000 to 6000x4000. Maybe the d3200-type is an original sony, the d5200-type a nikon-modification.

Yeah, not only that it seem that it gains 1 more stop of High ISO capability.. And Nikon says it is a different Sensor.

I have rarely seen the exact same sensor used between different bodies. Usually it is just a different version with some tweaks - but that is by definition, a different sensor. Some of the difference could just be software as well that changes between the bodies.

The D3200 uses a sensor made by Aptina, while the D5200 uses a Sony sensor.
