2 f-stops... And yes both will work great on a D90. I have a vague feeling that there is another post about this on the forum so you might wanna do a search for 70-200mm lenses...
what do you mean by 2 f-stops? sorry, im just a newbie hehehe
Not 2 f-stops I mean 2 shutter speeds slower than the Vr1 version in low light which reduces the effects of shake. Sorry about the misclarification

in my opinion, a significant difference.
In physical handling, it's slightly heavier, shorter, and nicely weighted (not as long as the previous model).
In actual handling, as others have said, it gives you more leverage in shutter speed when faced with low light situations - probably won't be using VR unless you're shooting less than 1/500 anyhow.
For FX users, you gain the advantage of little to no vignetting in the corners of the image - something that was frankly quite correctable using software programs like Dx0.
I opted for the second version simply because the VR2 and wide open sharpness trumped the older version by a smidge - and the price difference was "only" $500 when I was purchasing.
