I've had a D50 for more than a few years now and I believe its time to upgrade. The camera I'm the most interested in is the D90 just because it seems solid, is in my price range and has all the features I want. I do want the camera to be able to last me another few years. I am not too familiar with Nikon product cycles, so I was hoping someone here could help me out. Will there likely be a replacement or something similar to the D90 coming out soon that I should wait for? Any information would be helpful!! thanks!

Hello !
well the D90 is a revolutionary camera, first DSLR to shoot videos. from all the rumors in this website ; D90 refresh, D4000, D500 and such, its normal for people to hold up their plans on buying a new camera. for me, if you need a new camera for a trip or something thats coming soon, go and get it OR get the better, faster, D300 (if you have more money too). if you can afford to wait, wait till the end of July. this will be the likely time that Nikon releases a new camera. whatever you're going for, good luck! :)Posted 3 years ago # -

The D50 is a great camera in good hands. In what ways do you feel limited by the D50? That would help us to answer the question in a more meaningful way. If it is speed and resolution, then the D90 isn't a bad choice. Just keep in mind that sometimes what you really need is better lenses, not a new camera.
The D90 was an evolutionary product, hardly revolutionary. D-Movie is a nice feature, but unless you want to shoot video it is useless. Also keep in mind that the D90 will likely be replaced in the next 3 months (it will be 2 years old in August).
