Canon has a press release saying they have now made an equal number of EOS DSLR (digital) compared to the number of EOS SLRs (film) cameras they've made. 40 million in total.

I wonder if Nikon is close or if they have already passed that point too? Though canon is only counting their EOS line. Where would Nikon start counting on the film side? The EOS line started in 1987. Should Nikon start counting from the F4? Or maybe from the F5 since that's still the current body design?

The EOS line is pretty much defined by the EOS lens mount, so F-mount from 1959... or Ai in '77, or perhaps when AF contacts were added around 1986...

Counting from 1959, they may have a little ways to go...

Yep, my AE-1 from 1978 doesn't count for Canon. Of course it hasn't counted for Canon since the early 80's when they cut the AE-1 and A-1 from any further lenses.

There is a reason I shoot Nikon now.

lol, why would canon only count their EOS line, that is a completely misleading statistic then.
