Nikon Coolpix P6000 is out of production for some time now so Nikon is preparing something for sure, EVIL or not.
Canon is currently big on sales with G11 and S90 and EVIL model will just compete with these.

There are rumors and patents for a Nikon EVIL camera. No such patents or rumors from canon. There was even a quote from an engineer/exec that said canon has no plans for such cameras though they would "study" the market.

Either way I would bet on Nikon to develop an EVIL camera and lenses that work better together then Canon would despite who wins the to market race. I am sure that the EVIL design will be the future of cameras with large oversized sensors and large pixilxs with optimum spacing to produce high quality pictures.
In spite of the less then great reviews the P6000 received I own one along with a D-90 and the shots I have with the P6000 are great, espically at night and it is great for light treveling light espically for someone like me who is partially disabled. I am sure Nikon learned a fair amount from the 6000 along with the other technology they developed and will apply it to our great delight

Good for you TurtleLouie! It's good to hear from someone that thinks highly of their COOLPIX and not just the D90 with 35mm f1.8 lens :^)
