There is a card reader for it...iPad Camera Connection Kit -- http://www.apple.com/ipad/accessories/ -- although I am not sure it is out?
"The iPad Camera Connection Kit gives you two ways to import photos and videos from a digital camera: using your camera’s USB cable or directly from an SD card. iPad supports standard photo formats, including JPEG and RAW."
You can use the Photoshop app (hope for Lightroom App) or any of the dozens coming or have been released to tweak to your desire. By the end of summer this thing will be a must for higher-end wedding photographers, probably the first thing a client will ask lol...
The screen is 100% better than any netbook I have owned or played with - it makes the photos look good right out of the um, raw. ;)
My friend uses his now (although tethered through laptop to sync) for horse show jumper pictures. The screen is clear and the feedback is awesome. He has increased his sales enough in one month to cover the cost.
I am a PC user and love making new intel computers with 12 gigs of ram, etc - I use Lightroom/Photoshop. I waited until the release of the 3GS iPhone before I bought one and I can't see myself without it again. I use it now to show people photos of Seniors I took to sell them my service while in line at a grocery store. It works :), but I am still not a MAC person.
I agree, unless you can use it now for profit now, I would wait until next year when they release iPad 2 (fixed & tweaked) probably unison release iPhone 4Gxx+s in June. The storage on the iPad is kind of a joke...no reason why it doesn't have a 128gig model.
