I have recently moved to a new country, and contacted Nikon here in order to check on the warranty of my cameras which are all new.
I was advised, that the warranty is only applicable in the country of purchase, even though I was told that there is a world wide warranty.
I have been told that the world wide warranty only applies to lenses for one year.
Comments please.
Sounds about right. People who buy gear in the US for example must send their gear back for warranty service. It's not just Nikon most manufacturers are like this.
Lenses - 1 year worldwide warranty (in us only the ones from official distribution, not grey market)
Body - local (country limited US, EU limited europe) warranty
Does anyone know if Nikon will still honor a warranty for a product that was purchased new, but not from an authorized Nikon dealer?

Technically, no. However, if you've bought a, say lens, used (but within warranty) from a person who originally bought it from an authorized dealer and you have a copy of the purchase receipt...
