Even though this is a Canon 7D, it is neat device and could properly be done with a Nikon DSLR
Pete
BTW I must admit that I was kind of hoping for a crash

Awesome link, Pete. I would love one of those.
Yes is the Video ever great quality, you would newer have known that it was recorder with a small RC helicopter
Pete
This is great.
Totally cool. But get insurance and use a rental camera.
Awesome! I want one!
boy would doing this make me nervous.
That shot of the kid playing drums in the field though looked pretty nice. I'm guessing most (well all) of this video has not been post-processed as well, looks like you could really get some nice results from this. especially with a nice wide prime at evening hours.
Why the 7D!!! At least the 5D mII is a decent camera... Then again Canon users spend more time showing off their cameras than Nikkonians which usually stick to actually shooting...
It seems that way anyhow, but then again there are more Canon shooters, which means there are more of them to feel like showing off. If you look on youtube there are plenty of people showing off equipment from all the big players in the DSLR market.

Why not advertise them Koshi? As PB PM mention every body is showing off their gears.
5Dm2 and 7D have become the trade mark for every filmmaker around the world and every body has one or another, in some cases they have them both. They both take pictures and videos beautifully, it's just mater of taste when it comes which camera is better. It all comes down to the person who is using.
It is really a shame as to why Nikon didn't develop the video mode further since it was the first one to introduce within the D90. If that was the case we would see more Nikon DSLR's shooting music videos and TV shows. Ok, we know that NIkon has D3s that shoots manual video but the price of that camera is the same as to buy both 5dm2 and 7D together. Obviously i am talking for those people that like to shoot video with DSLRs and take pictures as a second option.
It would of been a interesting to see different video projects shot with both cameras and discuss about qualities and ergonomics of each camera.
it would of been a fare competition between Nikon and Canon in video mode, obviously if Nikon wants to have a piece of that cake.
Check out HotDuckZ's latest thread. Zacuto did a side by side video comparison with 5Dmk4, 1Dmk4, 7D, D3S, GH1, and some point & shoots form Kodak and Fuji. If each sample wasn't labeled I seriously doubt anyone could distinguish which video sample belonged to which camera! For me the GH1 kicks some serious butt for the money.

I do and I also prove that the Nikon is superior in many if not most categories.... :)
No doubts about that kyoshi that Nikon is far better then Canon in all categories a part form video. Sorry about that but we all know what are the limitation when it comes to shooting video with Nikon.
Yes Niko I have seen it. Did you also notice Niko that footage from D3s was almost identical to Kodak and Fuji, even the flare that came form the light bulb was same with
the lenses from film camera.
Thats why Nikon lenses my dear fends are the BEST. RED makes Nikon adapters for its cameras because Nikon glass is far better then any other manufacture.
Cool post. I would be real scared if that was my gear.
KM
video 21: Oh fuk I dropped it in a river! OMG where is my camera! /hlip hlip
good Idea but I really dont see doing it ... even with junk like 7D :)
There's a commercial version of this.
If you did real estate work this would be handy. And between risking myself in a copter or my camera in a RC copter, I'll take the later.
I saw one on a documentary, too. Probably costs a lot, though.

This guy tests out his new canon T2i by strapping it to a RC chopper. I usually would have just shot some brick walls.
Seriously, what's with these overachievers these days?
