i should post some of my pics from the lens.. .it does have some limitations wide open!
Also note, B&H just raised prices on this baby by 10%, so you would've been smart to pre-order it. . .glad I did!

I use a D40, not sure if it is worth selling my 50 1.8 D for, all I'm going to benefit from is AFs. IQ is actually worse.

I think the 35 compliments the 50 very nicely, so I personally wouldn't sell it. Granted I have a D50, so I can take advantage of the AF on the 50mm.

I'm pissed off about this lens. It gets acceptable only at f/2 or f/2.4 - I can really use an f/2.8 zoom then, eg the Sigma 18-50, which is only bout twice as much. Where's the advantage of this prime? They should have made it 1.4!! I would pay 100$ more if it was 1.4.

Let's say for argument that the lens gets acceptable only at f/2 or 2.4 - it's still faster than the Sigma. You also neglected the fact that the Sigma is not going to perform it's best at 2.8. The Sigma may only be "acceptable" at f/3.5 or f/4.
There's your advantage.

Nikkorian, they would probably rise the prise much more than $100 if it wil be 1.4 :) Please do not complain to much its really good piece of glass. I'm Satisfied with the results I obtain with it with my D90.

I couldn't wait for the 1.8, so I bought the f/2 instead =)

That's if autofocus isn't an issue with you, as it is for me with the D40. :(

Yeah, I couldn't abandon my 28 or 50 primes...
The 35 just fits in so well =)
http://dave.oc7.org/gallery/main.php/misc/camera_stuff/DSC_7053.jpg.html (can't seem to post G2 images in here)That said, if I had a 40, and I do want one... esp with this price:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16830113162&nm_mc=AFC-Bensbargains&cm_mmc=AFC-Bensbargains-_-NA-_-NA-_-NA...I would put the 35 1.8 on it.
