Exactly. It's a recreational device. I use my thinkpad for multimedia use, mainly watching hulu, browsing the net, forums etc. Ipad would takeover these tasks from my laptop. And the laptop would only be use for actual work, be it word processing, or editing of photos.
Moreover, I was about to spend +/- $300 for a book reader. I might as well spend some more , and have something more useful than a regular digital book reader. I read a lot of pdf documents. Hopefully ipad has/or will have an app for reading these file formats. It would be swell if I could use a stylus pen to annotate the docs as I read, but I guess the "keyboard" isn't all that bad.
I wanted to have a webcam, so I could buy an ipad for my father. He would love that thing. All that he does is either video chat( where webcam is essential obviously), and read news/email from the web. It would be a very fun and useful toy for him.
Ohh and thanks for reminding me that it doesn't have a freaking flash support. Will it ever have one?
So until ipad doesn't have the flash support or webcam Steve won't see my money anytime soon.
One reason why I like Apple, is that it leads the whole market with it's product design. Now we will have a ton of "ipad killers" coming out from Microsoft/Google etc. Gives us customers more choice and better products.
