I'm a Mac user who just got a D5000, I'm looking for software to organize all of my photos. Any good free ones would be good, but I'm still willing to spend a few bucks on a good program.

    Any suggestions?

Picasa is pretty good, and it's free too. You can take a loot at it, download it from Google.

If you have a MAC the best to go with is Aperture 3.0 - it will do everything you are asking and more worth the money if you plan on taking lots of pictures plus you can shoot them in RAW.

They have a free 30 day trial so give it shot...than look around for the best prices om newegg, amazon, B&H, etc.

Iphoto and picasa are both free, and might be enough.

of course try both lightroom and aperture, lightroom 3 beta is free till the end of june, and aperture has a trial.

import a few dozen/hundred pictures into each of the 4 and see how they react and deal with them ,and how to manange, edit and export them. Iphoto and aperture are very similar, but picasa and lightroom are diffrent. just try then and see what workflow works for you.
