It is unfortunate for the economy, but it makes an excellent photo op.
Thanks for sharing.
And that's just one volcano. Imagine what happens when we get hit by a huge meteor!
Actually if Yellowstone were to erupt that would also be something else
Pete
problem with meteors is that they usually travel at over 10 miles/s.
Just consider the required shutter speed...
So then what happens if a meteor strikes Yellowstone at over 10miles a second?
You Duck really fast
Pete
pictures are nice, but the whole situation isn't... I'm so glad that I came back from my holidays week before the sky was closed :D as right now lots and lots of ppl have longer vacations
I have a feeling that Yellowstone will erupt within my life. Hopefully not when i visit. any one seen the part where Yellowstone erupts in 2012? wonder if It'll be that big. Theyd say ash would cover the whole US to the east for months
Amazing photographs, So sad though for the people effected.

I have my BS in Geology and we looked at ash in Western Colorado from a Yellowstone eruption while I was in school. There were several meter thick deposits there from an eruption 640,000 years ago and that is something like 400 miles away. Can't imagine a big eruption from Yellowstone.
pete - to be honest, I haven't had too much time lately (You know once You come back from holidays, there's plenty of work to do), and to be honest I haven't seen too much difference in the sky, or at least I don't see any darkness - it's blue as blue can be :D
