Makoto Kimura is an engineer from Nikon's imaging buisness department and has been chosen to take over as President in June. They apparently credit him with helping lead the success of Nikon's high-end DSLRs. He seems eager to take Nikon in some kind of new direction. Interesting to see if that is good or bad? Though Nikon's high-end DSLR history has been excellent.

Let us hope he will be more open to new ideas and technologies, though his statement seams a bit insecure and indecisive: “I intend to keep dialogue open for everyone to decide what we should do”

That is kind of a given for someone new to a leadership roll. It takes time to find out what is going on when you step into a position such as the president of a company. You have to consider the direction the company was going, figure out if what worked and didn't and try to make your own plans from there.

I think that's good news, but I like engineers in general because they're usually practical.
mb, that sounds like he's going to open up the firmware development. How else could 'everyone decide what we should do'? ;-)

I think this is just a very bad translation ...

or maybe he is an engineer and an inclusive leader who listens to his advisors and gathers all the facts before making a decision.Posted 3 years ago #
