I admire the guts of Sigma to always push things to the next level, it might not always work, but they do make a few winners
So here you have a new 8-16mm f/4-5.6 DC HSM lens with mount for Sigma, Canon and our Nikon DX cameras. I hope this turns out OK it would be fun to use the 8mm with 121 degrees of view on your APS-C sensor Camera
Funny how Nikon newer tries to be the first at something new and wild in lens design

pete - it's going to be a 12-24mm on DX, still nice, my 10-20 (15-30 on DX) is wide and this will be even wider
12-24 is still more impressive than most FX wide angles...
This is a very interesting lens and I'm usually a fan of wider apertures, but this access to 12mm equivalent on DX (while you can't have it on FX, really) might make me stay on DX for a little while and upgrade to some D90 upgrade if it ever comes out... instead of a D700 upgrade...
It depends how sharp the lens is at 8mm wide open, because there's no way I won't shoot this at f/4 almost all the time... I shot inside!

Actually you can have 12mm equivalent on FX and for a long time:
Sigma's 12-24mm is a FX lens.

Yeah I know about these lenses and the sigma 12-24.. which is friggen soft.. probably means the 8-16 is gonna be soft.
The main difference is that the 12-24 is useless unless you shoot FX, and it seems that the 14-24 is just much more interesting as an FX lens.
I don't see the 10-24 as a 14-24, aperture matters a lot to me... that's also why I won't buy the 8-16 and stick to my tokina 11-16 until I upgrade to FX
