If you buy a used camera, and there is not warrenty, what are the costs for general maintenance from Nikon or a dealer?

Depends on the product, and what needs to be repaired. There is no way for anyone here to know those prices though, since none of us work for Nikon.

D700 on eBay. Owner says 15K shutter clicks. About 10% before it is recommended to get the item serviced.

Shutter count can be reset so don't use that as an "odometer".

If the seller was doing that, I don't think they'd take another 15k shutter actions before selling it.

The owner might not even realize the count has been reset. The camera might actually have 25000 clicks or it could have 18000. The count is just not an accurate way to judge "life expectancy"

Then how do you judge the "life expectancey" of a camera?
