So would you pay $3.34 Million (USD) for a photo of a 99 cent store isles? Both photos aren't even straight out of the camera. They've been photoshopped. They were sold together as a diptych.

    The "photographer" was Andreas Gursky.

I wouldn't, but I'd have to raise money just to be broke, so I'm not really in a position to say...

It is an interesting composition, in that you could stand there staring at it for a long time. It'd be about $3.34M cheaper just to go to the dollar store and do the same, though.

    Haha! So true nfiorito.

If the original is worth 3 million I wonder how much the above thumbnail is worth?

Apparently someone's "sugar mama/daddy" with more than 3 million dollars thinks it is Sangster.

But don't worry guys they probably also use a D3X hooked up to an HD LCD TV to see themselves while brushing their teeth instead of a using a mirror on a wall.

You simple peasants, this print is so "deep". It symbolizes the state of our society world wide. The individualization of our desires. You see all of those stripes and different colours of the packaging of the products? well they represent our emotions, thus leading the viewers to see that the products represent humans.

The neatly arranged products are symbols of us. We are just nothing more than a "products" that one can buy with no consideration to our souls. This is of course evident by the large 99 cent signs in the back. We have lost our common bond of humanity. We see everything in economic terms. We no longer know the value of the human soul and the human consciousness. We are all but slaves standing, being presented in an auction.

There, I hope I enlightened you simple peasants.

    LOL just kidding

Who cares, they will put in on the wall, and think how deep they are.

Seriously if I had that kind of money (3.4 million) to throw around I would buy a D3X or Leica M9 and hire Art Wolf, Tom Hogan, Moose Petersen or some other famous photographer to study. You'd still not even come close to spending 3.4 mil. Oh to be rich...

The purchaser will use $3.34 million from his other pocket to buy the store so he can hang the photo of the store in the store, thereby blowing all of your existential minds. Then take a picture of the minds blowing and selling that picture for $6.68 million to cover the costs of the photo and store he just purchased.

Wow. With 3.2 million, I could hire all the worlds' best photographers, get the best gear and do the damn shoot myself and still end up with leftover money probably.

NSXType-R my point exactly and think about how much more enjoyable it would be! I think photography is actually good for your health as well. Think of all the things it interelates health wise to. Travel, hiking, scuba diving, manual labor (lifting heavy Nikon gear haha), stress reduction unless you are a media or celebrity chaser.
