Now I wonder where you heard this!
"This item is currently not in stock. We are accepting orders and it will be shipped when in stock. Orders will be filled in the order they are received. Your card will be charged upon placing the order."

My card was charged yesterday and was told by B&H Iould have it friday.

OK,..it was very early when I made my post. I did mean D3S. Believe me,..it shipped (see below).I am VERY excited to get this new equipment and expand my knowledge and ability. Thanks to everyone for their opinions and past experiences.

BTW,..When I call B&H yesterday afternoon to check the status of the order, the rep informed me that the D3S's are in stock and shipping,...then was STRONG-ARMED to purchase the 3 year warranty. I never felt sooooo much pressure to purchase an extended warranty in my life. was quoted mid $700 range.

I did so no. What are most others doing for warranty? Homeowners insurance? Private business policy?

Renters' insurance, but I don't think that covers repairs. I had my D300 stolen last year, and the insurance paid all but a $500 deductible. There are limits on my policy for items primarily used for business use.

I have business insurance to cover any loss. only the manufacturers warranty for repairs. The D3s is built like a tank (and weighs as much) and is guaranteed to last forever and auto update to all new technology (at least it should for the price). :)
