Hello all,
Has anyone ever shopped with *link removed*?
I usually shop with b&H and adorama, but they're out of stock with the len I want (amazon is way over priced).
Any other recommend online source, anyone?
thanks,
Erik

Sorry Erik we don't allow links to other commercial websites. What lens are you looking for?
The only thing I can tell you about the site you listed is that it's a Brooklyn store front that operates under several different names. So I personally wouldn't buy anything from them regardless of how cheap their prices are.
I'm really sorry. I'm still very new to this site.
I'm looking for Tokina 11-16 F2.8. b&H and adorama is out of stock...
any other sources you recommended?
-Erik
That's a pretty hard lens to find in stock anywhere. So If you can't find it in stock at BH or Adorama then I doubt smaller stores would have it either even if they claim to have it in stock. Once they have your credit card info they suddenly say it's out of stock. Or they try to sell you a much more expensive model or brand.
I'm afraid you're just going to have to wait :^(
Niko,
Respectfully,...Definition of forum on the Web:
a public meeting or assembly for open discussion. Key word being OPEN.
I thought that I could get a open answer from anyone on this website. If it's being "policed" as far as content,..I think that the owners of this website should change the header from "Forum" to Kinda/Sort of Forum".
Hope you get your lens Ekoo. Those two websites i PMed you are two others i know of that would be trusted.
LoveTheBerry Have you been to a truely open forum? They are very popular. They get 1000's of posts a day! 99% are just links !
In my opinion. I like how it is now, No spam website. But also i think in cases like this... That it would be okay to suggest places. I was able to PM ekoo with two stores that i know of that would be able to get that lens from.

As a regular on NR, Open does not mean anything allowed, like heartyfisher said or else we get all this crap from someone trying to sell us something, it has happened a few times already
I buy on line, but try to be smart about, if the deal is so much better than other retailers, your are going to be scammed
Pete
In regards to the Tokina lens several Ebay stores incl US stores have the lens in stock

Respectfully...Read the forum rules!
Spam / Commercial advertisement is not allowed. Very simple rule - accounts will be deleted without notice, no exceptions.
This is not an "open" forum. This is a public forum. An "open" forum to me means there are no rules or moderators. Our site get's lots of spam. We quickly delete commercial links to keep spammers out otherwise as others have already pointed out you'd be looking at a bunch of links trying to sell you shoes or male enhancement products.
So the spammers have to get "sneakier" to get their message out into the forum. They will "pose" a question with a direct link to their website etc, etc. So we get very suspicious if a new member makes his 1st or 2nd post about a "little known" commercial website and puts a direct link.
I'm not saying that's what EKoo has done(Spammers don't usually apologize). I'm just trying to explain why we remove direct links to commercial sites.
Berry, you're right that it's not an open forum. But the policing is usually pretty tame, especially if they know you're not here to flood people with adverts. There have been some that have done that, like Pete mentioned. Take a look at what happened to the wiki section because no one was watching it (this is a link to a random page and I'm pretty confident it will be one filled with advert links): http://nikonrumors.com/wiki/index.php?title=Special:Random
That said, I've posted commercial links and haven't had them deleted or even been warned about it because the mods knew I was just trying to help.
It really would be nice if there was no need for policing, but the fact is we need it and even an innocent post of a shady link might make people think it's more credible.
Thanks for the responded everyone.
I'll just have to be patient!!
and no more direct links (at least commercial)!!
You know no one was attacking you, right, EKoo? We were just discussing rules. (On your thread ;-)
It's a good lens for the price EKoo. Everyone wants to get one. Just sign up for the in-stock alerts at a "trusted" dealer, if you haven't already, and keep your credit card handy for when you get that "back in-stock" email.
Good luck.
jonnyapple, I broke the rule of the forum, even if I was attacked, it would be justified.. : (
but no, I didn't feel like I was attacked. This rule will be forever remembered though... :p
so Smarterchild PM me two other alternate websites, one of them had it in stock and I placed my order right away!
Now, I'm patiently waiting for my new toy to come!! ;) let me know if anyone of you want to know where to get it ..
-E
I'm interested in this lens too, how much did ya get it for? The price seems to have bottomed out for now
Congrats Ekoo :) i am glad i was able to help with your purchase.
Niko. I was wondering if were allowed to say the names of the camera shops. I mean not in a web address. But as a name as we would say B&H or Adorma. I suggested either Penn or Ritz camera.
guys, either we like it or not this is commercial site - as Niko mentioned, we had a lot of spamers before, that's why it's hard for us to judge either a new person is a spamer or not. as a rule of thumb for newbies, in case You don't know how to interpret the rules, please fell free to ask us mods or senior users, we are here to help yaa all
I'm going to say that mentioning a vendor's name (not a direct link) is OK as long as it is a "reputable" store and not some "shady" place.
