Would someone please tell me how to check shutter count. I just bought a new D90 :) from B&H. However, the manuals were already opened. I want to make sure I bought a new factory camera. Thanks for the help!
How can you find out the shutter count of a camera

Even the shutter count can be reset, but you can check it by uploading a picture here and checking the field called "Image Number."

Just remember that not even a brand spanking new camera will have a low shutter count. The camera undergoes many shutter activations during it's manufacture.
What about the manuals makes you suspect a "used" camera?Posted 3 years ago # -
Thanks jonnyapple!

NikoDoby - the seals were broken on the manuals - Not sure if the camera had been "used"..that is why I was asking the question. I would prefer not to have a camera that someone has used or "tried". Could someone like myself receive a camera that someone else bought but decided to send back do to whatever reason within the 15 day window agreement between buyer and B&H?

I don't recall any of my camera manuals or boxes having seals on them. Was there a broken/torn seal or were they just loose in the box?

The manuals came in a clear package that was torn - Looks like it had been cut with scissors.

Another great site for determining the shutter count is... http://www.myshuttercount.com
It is quick and easy and gives you the exact shutter count..... bobPosted 3 years ago # -
If its cut then is an open boxed item. you paid for a brand new unit not a opened box unit go and get a new one.

It looks like it's been cut or it has been cut? I don't remember what the packaging of the D90 looks like. Can anyone confirm that the manuals do come sealed in plastic?
What was the shutter count on your camera photocrazy?

I just checked and they do come in a plastic bag with an adhesive flap. It would be really easy to open and then close back up, but if the plastic is cut open it means it was opened. I would probably just let B&H know but keep it so I wouldn't have to deal with the hassle of replacing it. Maybe they'll give you a little money back or extend your warranty or something (probably not).

Just keeping expectations real, Niko, while still trying to console. I'm serious, though, if it had fewer than ~250 actuations I'd keep it without losing sleep.

Darn, jonny, I haven't been able to sleep a wink since reading your post - and it's not even my camera at issue. hehehehehe.

Better luck with your next 16 hours, warprints.

http://regex.info/exif.cgi or shuttercount.com will give you what you want. This was covered a few weeks ago actually. Beware though I think both sites want uploaded pictures from people for free because both sites advertise how you can get paid for uploading your pictures on their websites. What I do is shoot a "bulb" pure black garbage picture then upload it to get the metadate for a shutter count. This way they can't use the picture for any purposes.
