Dear Mr Ant
My biology teacher says that Humans are the only animals that stutter but I had a kitty who stuttered. I was in our back yard with my kitty when your dog jumped the fence. My kitty arched his back and went ..Fffff ..Fffff ..Fffff and before kitty could bust his stutter and say “Forke” …your dog ate him.Little Jimmy (from next door)
The topic this time is a little unconventional, a little fluffy and you might consider not in the natural order of things…not true, be patient we are just raising some issues so that later on you can recall them again.
..
Consider yourself at the beginning of becoming a street photographer. Nothing is going right and you feel it just not happening and that you might as well give up and buy a Sony.
Dear Ant
Nothing is going right, its just not happening, Im thinking of buying a Sony.
I take a while to warm up before getting into it, sometime it can take me a couple of hours.
In that time I just sit and watch, grab a coffee and if I suddenly exclaim ..."bugga, I missed that", its about then I pick up the camera and put down the coffee and not come up for air again until the sun goes down.
Its funny but in the time prior I see nothing picture worthy and its not related to the hour of day or day of the week.
Pick a nice spot to sit, maybe even somewhere on the street with a coffee. Bring your camera but just sit and watch. You can photograph from this location but its not going to be ideal as you really need to be on your feet, so just watch as scenes open up before your eyes. You might think that the first opportunity is a pic, but is it …is your third eye working or are you being impatient and just want to take a pic. Is a picture of someone reading a book interesting, think about it as a photo. What was it that made it worthwhile as a picture, maybe it wasn’t. A hippopotamus jumps out in front of you, quick get a pic!
one Hippo, two Ewe ..

Do you know the song ..
Hippo birdie two ewe
Hippo birdie two ewe
Hippo birdie deer ...ant
Hippo birdie two ewe
Could it be that you have tried street in the past and gave up not realising you might have given up too early?
Maybe your planets were not in alignment, maybe you are thinking about a new BMW motorcycle and your mind is not on the job.
Maybe you are thinking about your job when your mind should be on a motorcycle.
Or do you jump straight into what ever kind of photography it is and just blast away?.
I have some friends that do and while I like their pics, they seem to be relying on quantity for their hits and amongst them they do score a few so it’s a technique that works and maybe more to your way of doing things.
..
..
Does anyone else suffer a warm up time. Does it happen in sports, stills or landscape photography. Are you affected by it or never heard of it?
..
..
Another way to start your motor might be to visit a location popular with buskers or street performers. Fill your pockets with some coins and you can pay for the privilege. Shift angles, take notice of your surroundings, look at the light and shadows …what do you want your photo to say.
Target ...Locked.

Has he been a good boy or a ...bad boy, I can feel his eyes piercing my skull.
Those blasted sparrows, what have they told him.
Im holding my nerve, that bead of sweat, I dont think Santa saw it ...I think Im gunna get that shiny red bicycle afterall.
