Wait! How can it be released tomorrow? That's a Thursday. Get real. They'd never release it on a Thursday.

Didn't you already buy that D3s?
Posted 3 years ago # -
The D4, maybe next year.

"Poster",..yes,..I ordered the D3s but it's on backorder. Should ship next week according to B&H. I was just reading about what people wanted to see in the D4 and wondered how often Nikon updates it's Pro Series.
Went to the Mexico/Iceland Soccer Exibition in Charlotte yesterday and wished I had it already.

D4 discontinued already, now waiting for D5......

In all seriousness the D4 isn't expected until late 2011. There is a chance it might show up along side the D400 which might show up in early 2011 or, more likely, late summer early fall 2011.

why we will never have a Nikon D4
"I have been asked several times about Lumix LX4. Probably not every knows... asian people are very much into numbers and its meanings. 8 mean luck/fortune in money terms. 98 mean "forever rich", 28 "easy to get rich"... 668 "all the way to get rich" ... 58 "not getting rich" ... and our number 4? 4 means "dead" ... 48 "dead rich" etc. Thats why you do not see even Palm T4, Nikon D4 etc... it is similar as EU/US number 13. "
Before anyone jumps down my throat about digging up old threads, as some have done, Niko gets on your case for starting new threads when the subject is already covered, and I agree with Niko on that subject.
So, we may never see a D4, they may just jump to D5, however to throw a spanner in the works, there was a F4, abeit F3, F5 and F6 was better. It died [pun intented] and has little interest or resale value, so maybe there is something about this number 4 thing.
will someone who knows about oriental traditions comment.

Explain then the greatly successful Nikon F4, still one of the most influential models in Nikon's historical lineup.

Nothing new to add to it, no rumors, nothing, but just to make a comment about something you can learn from a fortune cookie and some comment about film cameras that is looking for a debate?
That is called "Trolling":
(Urban Dictionary) "Trolling is trying to get a rise out of someone. Forcing them to respond to you, either through wise-crackery, posting incorrect information, asking blatantly incorrect questions, or other foolishness. Many trolled statements are meant to be funny to some people, so it does have some social/entertainment value but rarely is conveyed in a way for others to understand the humor."

that is not trolling

No, trolling would be making a post on how the D4 is such an awful camera and how anyone who wastes their money buying one is not a real photographer but just someone with way too much money etc...
This is more of a case of necro-posting.

jerl - how can you say the D4 is an awful camera !! It's the best camera made ... Mine is such a wonder, I don't know what I'd do without it !! Oh .... it isn't made yet?? My bad. ;-)

Or perhaps I should put 2013 in this cut-and-paste??? Mmmm. Will see next year.

I was working with a wedding photog yesterday and he was using his trusty D3s.
It was dented, battered and obviously well used. Duct tape and small patches of black paint were clearly visible. We were joking about needing to save hard for the D4 and about how we were glad to actually be ABLE to earn so we could put money to one side for it!
I just hope he can still get enough running fixes done for it before 2012, 2013, 2014 or whenever...

I think we will see a D400 this year yet and maybe a D4 announcement if they get their plants up and going. Nikon almost never misses it's historical release schedule more than a few months. End of 2011 is time frame for both. (D800 would be 1 year following.) Getting our hands on either will be a year away (mid 2012).
I'm thinking of skipping both and getting a used D3s. I have been staying out of the FX trying to get my Glass first. I am just short an ultra wide so a move will be soon for me. The only that stinks is I will need a 300mm/400mm on the long end as I will loose my 105-300VR (70-200mm).

Lovetheberry, with what happened in Japan this year I heard it has been pushed back to PMA in January. Interesting enough, they actually postphoned PMA this year I heard because Nikon was not ready to release anything new at the usual PMA time in September.

........... D4 will be an amazing camera!..........Not sure if this the right thread to ask this but, given we may have to wait till next year for the D800. How many people, waiting for the D700 replacement, are likely to take out their life savings an buy a D4 , or may be down grade to DX and get a D400

I think I'll go start the inevitable, "Should I buy a D400 or get a D4, or wait for the D800" thread :^(
