For what my opinion is worth, I don't see why sales threads would only be for senior members. I can see restricting brand new accounts that way to avoid spam, but anyone who's a member is pretty much established as a breathing individual. Maybe admin could set up a separate section for sales, though.

JA - trust me that it's not such a big problem to become a senior member. and by enforcing this rule we (at least) try to protect our users a little bit, as we ain't gonna check every single item that's put on sale or verify either the user is credible or not.

Maybe admin could set up a separate section for sales, though. We DID have a sales section in the forum. There were no restrictions so anyone could post, but nobody used it. Except for spammers. Admin chose to take it down. No one missed it or complained about it back then so I don't understand why this is coming up now?
I would think you senior members would be happy that we give you priority over new members but I guess not. Perhaps we should just avoid the whole "not fair" thing and not allow any For Sale post regardless of membership rank?

It would get annoying to clutter up the forum with sales threads all the time. I don't have strong feelings about so I won't be offended no matter what happens, and maybe you're right that it would be too hard to keep spammers from posting in a separate sale section.

I rather like the current set-up. I'd only ever buy from the regulars anyway.

I think I over-reacted to the whole thing. The rule makes sense and I look forward to attaining senior membership.

lol I guess what I meant was that I look forward to earning the perks of senior membership.

It's been among my highest honors... Even better than passing traffic school or post graduate traffic school.
Posted 3 years ago # -
Nice! Do you have your PhD yet? I can imagine that will really open up the traffic school doors for you, so to speak.
Posted 3 years ago # -
Ted, I still haven't made it into post graduate traffic school but now that I know it's an honor I may have to...shall we say... put the pedal to the metal.

Don't do it in California. With local and state governments desperate for money, they're raising ticket fees and doing blanket traffic enforcement. Tickets routinely cost as much as a macro lens...

When you put it that way, I guess I'll just aim for the lens instead. Honors are overrated, anyway.

Didn't they nickname you "Toonces" in driving school jonny?
Posted 3 years ago # -
Ted, I meant to mention what happened to me this morning. I got cited for 5mph over (in a 45mph zone) when I was about 300 feet from the freeway entrance. I thought, "you've got to be kidding me." Then while he was writing the ticket I thought about this conversation we had last night and laughed. I'm still skipping traffic school.

"Toonces Jonny" lives up to his name then :^)
I got pulled over once for not wearing a seatbelt even though I WAS wearing one the hole time! I guess my rusty windowless van looked suspicious.

Sorry, Niko. I didn't see the simultaneous post from you there. What ever happened to those good old SNL skits, anyway? I stopped watching over ten years ago now besides the random sketch here and there.

It couldn't have been the muzzle of the firearm poking out of one of those rust holes that made them pull you over, could it, Niko?

Guys, I will work on this during the weekend. I hope we will have a solution by Monday. Sorry about the inconvenience.
Posted 3 years ago # -
Until then, Niko and I will just have to have these inane conversations in public, I guess.
Posted 3 years ago # -
You know that's the only reason you come here jonny! You could careless about any rumors :^)

I came here first to watch for a D700 replacement, but I like this forum and I think it's a really helpful place with people who generally know what they're talking about. You're an exception to that rule but at least you're good for a laugh. ;-)
