Are any of you experiencing problems with private messaging? Apparently some of you have been attempting to PM me and have been getting "inbox full" messages. My inbox is not full and you shouldn't be getting that error.
Can any of you PM each other?
PM me and let me know, Ha ha, or on second thought you'd better just post here ;^)

The weird PM related thing that HAS been happening to me that I know of, is that every time I log on it says I have 2 new messages (the amount of messages that are in my inbox, not new however) and I have to open them again to get that to go away.

Twice this week I've had a new message pop up and when I go to look at it, it's one that was sent to me 2 months ago.
No biggie, just letting you know because you asked.
Yes Bland, same happened to me. Old messages coming up as new.
Not only the problem mentioned above, but I can only read those old threads once since the link to the thread doesn't work—only the 'NEW:' link does. It wasn't a problem, though, since so far they show up as new again the next time I log in.
edit: I guess I'm wrong about them becoming new again right away. But I know I looked at some before and the new link has come back.
I tried to PM Niko to apologize for my awesomely funny Joke at his expense yesterday and got the same error.

erm... Sorry Niko, I misread a different thread as "I Am Niko" and then the image just popped into my head. It wouldn't go away until i posted it.

Messages just showed up as new, but were 1 and 3 weeks old.

I just got some month or more messages as new ones, and I can not send any PM to anybody ...
So it is not working ...
I have had 6 new (old ones) each day that I sign in, I delete them and they are back again next time

Ok then. My recently failed PM was regarding selling a lens. I happened upon a rather sweet deal on a Nikkor 300mm2.8 and I was wondering what kind of hoops I would have to jump through in order to try and sell my 300mmf4 in its own thread.
Sorry squamishphoto, but you just joined the forum last month. We want to give only senior members the benefit of selling gear. But before you go posting away to build up your post rank, it's also based on length of time you've been a member. So in other words you'll have to wait several months and have contributed to several hundred post.
Seems a bit restrictive to me. I would have assumed that an inquiry by the moderators into the legitimacy of the seller would have been the hoop to jump through here, not just the amount of time I spend blabbing on the forum. Like checking and seeing that my ebay, paypal, email and flickr accounts are all under same "SquamishPhoto" name. But whatever, Ill just keep yammering about camera stuff and I guess that my legitimacy will simply ooze out from my finger tips even as I type this bitterly sarcastic sentence.
We had a for sale section with no restrictions and nobody used it. Admin took it down because it was just full of spam. We just don't want people signing up only to sell their gear and then never again contributing to the forum.
And your "bitter" sarcasm doesn't help your cause.
Well, be honest here, do you really think that Im someone who is simply signing up to hawk a lens and then never contribute again? The option was never apparent to me until that thread surface just the other day. I came on here because of curiosity and I've stuck around and contributed a reasonable amount in that time. I use the site as much for the links on the front page and the links that posters like you provide in the forum as I do for asking questions and learning about what other photographers do to get the shots that they do. And that is what I will continue to use the site for. I can sell my lens through other means, but I just thought that someone here might appreciate getting something that has been well cared for by someone who respects his gear.
So then we should only consider nice people or those who respect their gear when deciding who we allow to sell their stuff?
Just because we allow someone to post a for sale thread doesn't mean we vouch for that person in anyway shape or form. We don't check the seller's background to see if they use the same name in all their online accounts. And even if we did what would that prove? Are we suddenly suppose to moderate a seller's ebay rating too?
Again, it's just a small benefit we give to our members who have been with us for several months and have contributed to several discussions. It has nothing to do with a person's character.
