@squamish - I belive it's a cocoi heron (ardea cocoi)

not the crispiest, but I believe that this are the same bugs (on the left) as on the heron shot, though I might be wrong

@wombat778 - Welcome to PAD, it becomes an addiction with time :) What type of bird is that? We don't have many like that in the PNW.
@msmoto - Your portrait series is amazing. Each one has been a really interesting shot with their personality showing.
One more from an old concert series for me. The first violin section in our community orchestra.

@JorPet Thanks! Its a turkey vulture. Sometimes I get up to 8 or so on my ledge, which is pretty bizarre since they are huge, only about 5 feet from my desk, and they often try to attack me through the glass. There also other species that come by occasionally that I don't know what they are (and are even uglier).

Tell me again that DX doesn't have good bokeh ?
The Rio Preto Valley in Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park, Brazil. The falls and cascades in the previous two photos I posted are upstream, or in back of me.
Merry Christmas indeed^^ Yes like hammers71 I am trying to slowly but surely get into the holiday season as well.
@pippigurl: I like this berry much
@coastalconn: contrary to us lesser mortals, your pictures are as fresh as the bread in Paris. Most of us go back weeks or months for our best shots.
This shot here dates back to summer with my brother and his family. Here my niece:
Really itching to get a model lined up to shoot. I'm running out of household items to photograph.
Here is an ornament that I thought had great texture. Still on the black and white kick.
So much to say, excellent photos all, sharp lenses, great bokeh, beautiful scenery, pretty subjects...and
@Pippigurl, congrats on having your photo tagged on the main page.

Sqquamish... I like the way you do some of these what I call "put of the box" portraits...
Meinrad...you caught the moment....
And, I love snow.... and the bokeh, Rx4Photo....you have defined it here.
Well, about all I have is one from my series...but this one was discussed with the subject and to retain the "person" the Bluetooth ear piece was left on.
When I saw this photo on your flicker photostream I realized the Bluetooth ear piece must be important to this guy's character because I know you would have noticed it and taken it off if it was not an important part of expressing his character. Sometimes visual "defects" are part of fully defining a person.
Continuing to post old shots. The weather's bad and I'm too busy. This was taken last summer in my neighbor's garden. Evidently it's some kind of moth. Any ideas?

Finally got around to copying all my B&W prints, since I had all the more recent ones in one place. Here is a shot of Batsto Mansion. Batsto is a preserved bog iron furnace town in the NJ Pinelands.
Mine for today...48th and 6th Avenue. Thanks Rx4

Stunning photos this month! This is a shot of a part of Yosemite that I visited just before it closed for the winter snows.....
