Figured I would post something that I did in the past 6 months, haven't really taken much. I really was looking at a D800E but even my D700 has some slight morie' in the grill, I think a D800E would burn me on this.

"Dumpster Diving"
Strange everyone else is posting birds and I'm not today. Found this Nikon FE with a 50mm F1.8 AI attached sitting on top of a garbage pile in a dumpster. I have no pride when it comes to free gear :) Just a fun test shot at F1.8 with some goofy flash settings to make it dark and moody...

Thanks coastal for not posting one of your bird shots so close to mine :) It's like that scene in the Woody Allen movie where Woody says that as a comic it's bad to follow another comic. This is an American oyster catcher. Notice that she's sitting on one egg and one newborn chick that's probably only minutes old.

@treckie - You nail the timing (I know how hard it is to get this kind of swan shot)

Another photo of the Batsto mansion - this time reflected in the window of one of the support buildings (a mill maybe?). The shot was angled slightly upward (and stopped down to f/16 or f/22 to make sure the window and mansion were both in focus), so I "corrected" that while printing by tilting the easel to mimic the angle the shot was taken at. I printed this at f/16 so I could make sure the whole frame was in focus, since the printing paper was no longer parallel to the film's plane. This gave me analog perspective control with my 70-200mm lens!

A female sea lion lets us know that we've gotten close enough. Just goes to show that under the right conditions the 80-400 can be a superb piece of glass.

Squamish.... Very nice eagle. Almost as good as your portraits, which are usually a 10.
I visited Brookgreen Gardens for the "Night of 1000 Candles" Friday and asked this young lady to pose for me. I was trying for a evening (dusk) photo, but didn't get the colors I would have liked.
