regulator—sorry, I meant heartyfisher in Australia.

I was talking about your second shot too, smarter. I don't really see anything wrong with it, but if you're talking about the left side of the shot (model's right), you could open up the shadows a little with a reflector. I like the high contrast and the mystery, though.
edit: if you're going to use flash, I wouldn't aim it at the model. I don't know what kind of room that was taken in, but you could try bouncing it off a faraway wall (off camera left?) to get just a little bit of fill. I'd use either manual mode on the flash and experiment or set flash exposure compensation to -1EV or -2EV.

Smartchild using high iso can be an advantage in b&w....i think your shot is spot on!
I mean the amount of grain can be very close to film !(second shot)
I think using what seems an inconvenience can become an advantage (in these cases).
    GOOD WORK!

The Iso performance is amazing, i love having the grain along with sharpness. Johnny, i never use my flash pointed forward. Most the time i have it bounced at 90 if at most 45 with white card up. I guess im just too picky with my images. I was just wondering if the tones would be more defined.

Fire season is more than half a year long.. there is a bush fire somewhere just about every day...
Both this and the other were taken on a plane somewhere in between Sydney and Melbourne.

Maybe I should have cropped out the clouds... ?

I like the colors in those shots, Hal and regulator. Bland, I didn't know cows with that much hair existed.

Poster, I'm still not sure what exactly they want. What ever happened to less is more on demonstration signage? (We want free subway passes and down with the banks and schools are failing our kids and what's with this weather anyway?...)

Another dog from me, I'm afraid. Well, three but mostly one.

Somehow that picture doesn't make me think of springtime, Stan. ;-)
