It doesn't rain but it pours first I ran into problems with my Legal copy NX2, you must uninstall the software to upgrade WTF. I own LEGAL SOFTWARE now it has to be totally uninstalled and update applied. My problems stem from a cleaning lady who misplaced the CD Case with the serial number, even with my Bill of sale, Original CD packaging etc. I was informed by Nikon Canada just go out and buy another copy of NX2. Sorry Nikon No Way

While Attempting to shoot a small wedding on Saturday my SB-900 gave over heated warnings and shut down forcing me to use my Bowens Strobes. and also an sb-28 and even an sb-13. The sb-900 has only been used for 6 weddings now I wish that had vivitar 283's at least they worked 100% of the time. Shame on you Nikon

I am still waiting for Nikon body with more than 12 mega pixels, sorry Nikon go back to the friggen drawing board I need what a 5D mark II will do including 1080p video not a lame 720p.

Sorry I am live long Nikon professional photographer and own 100+ lens and more than a dozen bodies.

Sorry for venting but I am ticked off at Nikon today

Well at least you have a good excuse to get Photoshop now.

I hear you on the video thing for sure and flashes overheating right when you need them most is ridiculous.

Thats why i have a backup SB-600. I plan on getting several more (2) sb-900s for such reasons.

Any software vendor is going to make you re-buy software if you lose your serial number for it. It's the way of the world.

Try updating your SB-900's firmware (if you have not already). When the SB-900 was first released the heat sensor's limits were set too low, even tho the flash can go hotter. I heard there is an update increases that limit.

And don't worry, more pixels are on the way. (I want an 18ish mp D700 replacement with 1080p/30fps video)

quad- how do you update firmwire for the sb900? along with all the other cameras and stuff. I dont understand it

Choose the Windows or Mac installer and follow the instructions given.

You can turn off the heat protection on SB900, also if You are such a pro having so many lenses, why don't You have a spare SB ? As for more than 12Mpx, go for D3x - You will get 24Mpx, should be enough for You.

Hey, I hear you nothing more mind numbingly frustrating than overheating flashes especially when you are right in midst of work..As far as more mega pixels is concerned, I am looking for at least the equivalent to the 5d mark II AND NOT in the 14-18mp area. I'd love to have the equivalent to scanned printed photos which I believe kicks in at around 25mp. Obviously slide film will not be achieved for many more years unless you go with a Hassey or Phase One camera right now. As if many can do that though. $$$$$$$$ I have all th glass ready to go! Come on Nikon D700x me.

Sangster, you really know how to make a first impression.

As for your NX2 problem, too bad that your stuff got misplaced but, as Quadra said, no way in hell would any company give you a replacement for free. Even if you have all the proof, serials and you have broken the installation CD, then you'd be lucky if you can get a replacement CD (for a fee of course) from the distributor.

The new trend is downloadable purchases. I purchased my PSE over the web and when I upgraded I just went to the site, downloaded the content, copied the serials and voila, everything works. The only thing you have to remember is that you have an account at Adobe (in my case) and that you got the software over the web. Even if you lose the login details they will be sent to you. Simple.

NX2 is also down-loadable software and it does not require you to uninstall previous version before upgrade but you must have a valid product key. And the whole story is a bit ridiculous...
For example, if you are professional photographer, imagine somebody comes to you clamming that you have shot his wedding couple of years ago and requesting from you to make him additional copies but he lost the film or DVD and he lost the receipt and he wants that you do this for free. Would you do it?
And if you have 100 lenses sell one and it will pay for a new copy of NX2, you could probably spare one.

100 Lenses? Really?. Sell some lenses man. Use the proceeds to pick up a new higher MP body once the launch (They will be there this year... probably this quarter).

The SB-900 issue is a bit silly, but not hard to correct. Truth be told, you shouldn't expect your flash to be able to fire at full power every couple of seconds and not get pretty hot. I do think that sometimes people expect a little to much out of the Nikon Strobes. I just disabled the thermal cut-off on mine and that seems to do the trick, but it definitely gets hotter than my SB-800 does under the same shooting conditions. I think its because I can use 5 batteries on the SB-800 and only 4 on the SB-900.

Technically BTW, your NX2 beef should probably be with NIK software and not so much Nikon. They designed it after all.... Just sayen.

I'll bet you'd love lightroom, sangster. The free beta version of lightroom 3 can still be had for a couple of months (until April, if I'm remembering right).

Sorry about the bad experience. I have a suggestion which may make me sound a bit obsessive, but when I buy anything photo-related (or anything over $100 or so) I take a picture of its serial number just in case I ever need it (insurance claim, reinstall, etc.). One time I mailed in a UPC with a rebate and the company wrote me a letter 'you failed to send the original UPC blah blah blah' and I called and said I have a picture of the original UPC but I really did send it. They sent me the rebate check without asking to see the picture (probably so they could get the crazy person off the line). Now let's hope I don't ever lose my photo library. Heaven forbid.

Things are looking up Nikon Canada confirmed a firmware will fix the issue, Nikon also agreed with me that if you buy software you should not have to remove NX2 and install the upgrade. They forwarded my concerns to Nik software that an update with the version of NX will no longer be removed to do an update.

My other good news my Nikon dealer confirmed that there will be new DSLR's released shortly

Yippee D900 , D700x whatever it will be I want the first one

More resolution for seeing more detail especially when cropping images. More mp on the censor can also create more depth of field as well as sharper images in the corners. The next FX body will be amazing in low light with higher resolution as well I believe.

I have the key some where around the house just not sure where it went to.
Most of lens are but all work except for 200-600mm that bought off eBay, it was missing 2 lens internally. I have an 8mm f8 upto 1000mm mirror
