Welcome to the forum. I'd just order one, then. Usually when they say that it means that they are getting enough orders to outpace the supply so they don't have an inventory. If you order it at B&H or somewhere that gets big shipments (haha—how big will D3s shipments be, I wonder?), you'll probably get it fairly soon. At least that's what happened with the 35mm 1.8 last spring/summer. I was waiting like you but then just decided to order it anyway and it shipped about a week later.
