Okay, so I don't know what planet I've been on (planet Nikkor, apparently). I had thought that Tamron had so far only put their vibration reduction technology (VC) in consumer superzooms, but I guess I missed the memo that last fall they put it in the 17-50 f/2.8 DX, a lens which I own (the non-VC version) and absolutely love.

Does anyone know if Tamron is going to be at PMA? Now I'm hoping that they'll be announcing that they're planning to do the same for the 28-75 f/2.8. I've been saving up for the Nikkor 24-70 2.8 while hoping that Nikon would put VR in it, but if Tamron beats them to it I think I'd rather at least try the Tamron first and see how it does and put the difference toward my next body upgrade (FF?).

Be glad you don't have the new VC version of the 17-50mm, I'd heard nothing but complaints about softness, even stopped down.

Wow, I just looked at some reviews and you're right, PB PM. Thanks for the tip. And I think the 28-75 isn't as sharp to begin with, so it might be best to keep saving my dollars.
