Next quarter at school is all about film, and dark rooms. I know very little about film cameras, but would like to get one so I don't have to check one out everyday from the school. Obviously I want to stay Nikon, so what do you all suggest?
Thanks!

Depends? Do you just want a basic film camera or pro grade heavy-duty? The N65 is pretty cheap. The N80 is cheap but has a better build. Then you have the more expensive but better F4 and F5 though they are solid and heavy. The F100 is nice too but expensive.
So it just depends on you and your budget.
get any of the FM/FE series or a Nikkormat FT2 or higher. An F3 if you can get one for a decent price ($150-250)
end of story.
Thanks Niko. I was actualy looking at the FM-10. Just want one that will take decent shots and last at least the quarter. I'll look at the others you mentioned.
What lenses do you shoot with currently? Although I recommend getting a Nikon F2, F3, or F5, what would probably be more useful to you is the N90. If your Lenses have a G on the name (stands for gelded or aperture ringless)a f2 or f3 will not be very useful if your current lens does not have an exterior aperture ring. On the Flip side a manual F/1.8 oldie works great on most modern DSLR's and is only about $35.00
+1 with kyoshinikon. It really depends on how much you want to spend. I remember seeing an FM10 going for $15 bucks on ebay.
Have you looked through the used list at bhphoto?

Nah, don't go for a FM10. Even though it's a new camera, the FM10 is mostly plastic, if not all plastic. Go for a used second-hand old Nikon film camera for nearly the same price as a FM10, either autofocus or manual focus.
I thought the Fm10 was outsourced and is produced by another camera make, the nikon name is the only thing of value on it.
NSXType- I know nothing about the film line of Nikon. I need model numbers to search for. I'm cool with plastic parts. I have NEVER shot film, so I don't need anything grand for my 1st film camera. I'll look in to those F3-6 that were mentioned.
Yeah it's a Cosina model, I think. But who cares guys. The point is for skid to learn the very basics for his class. As long as he has manual mode and a lens. I wouldn't spend a lot on a fancy Nikon if it was just for a semester.
The F3 and up are expensive.
Forget the F4..that's $2500.
The F90X (N90s in the USA) is a good, cheap film camera. I picked one up for $37 US last week. It supports G lenses, but not VR, AF is really fast, like D300 fast, but it is really loud when focusing AF-D lenses.
F100 - similar to F5 but more compact, sth. like d700 is for d3
The F100 is a great camera, but some people are asking way to much for them.

Yeah, it's a Cosina camera with a F mount.

Personally, I like the metal bodies of old cameras, I don't really like plastic ones. But the Cosina camera shouldn't be all too bad. It's just that used old film cameras are selling at the same price or less than the FM10.
Check B and H for their used prices of old film SLRs.
And yes, B and H still sell the F100 new. :D

I stand by this, I shoot film pretty much exclusively and these are far better to learn on than any of the plastic fantastic auto focus things. Or an F4, but they're heavy, more expensive (mine was $300), and really only worth it if you need such a resilient body with such features.
