slrgear.com recently posted a 5-sample review of the Nikon 50 1.4G on a D700. I'd been waiting for it since a while ago when they promised to do it after a similar review of the Canon 50 1.4 on a 5D. I don't think there's any question about which wins out wide open.

And the "clear" winner is.... Nikon! I would rather have my Nikon 50mm F/1.8 than the canon 50 f/1.4 (for the most part)!
reason I chose the Nikon camp several years ago. . .the Canon bodies "maybe better", but at least Nikkor lenses ROCK!!!
I will take my Sigma 50mm 1.4 over these two.
The only Nikon lens I've owned that was phenomenal was the 105/2.5AIS, but all have been very good to excellent. Measured against Leica and Zeiss, I'd only choose Nikon because of the breadth of their offerings. Nikon's enduring superiority is their consistency. Isn't this like the Canon guys talking MPs?
This pretty pointless too. How about comparing the old Nikon 50mm 1.4 Af-D to the Canon one.
