Okay, even the thumbnail of the behind the scenes was freaking me out seeing that camera in the background looking like it's going over the edge any second. I almost had to stop watching when he started changing lenses hanging out there off the cliff. I'm sure he doesn't get paid enough.
    Nice find, Niko.

I was thinking the same exact thing jonny.

So if you and I go rock climbing and my D3S, with the new 24mm, and you fall over at the same time, who do I reach out and save?!

The 24 for sure. I've got life insurance. ;-)
I wasn't even thinking about the climbers. What about the poor lenses with nothing but fingers between them and a fall? I'd be rigging up harnesses that attach to my bag for any lens over $1000.

awesome vids! mega envy on the gear abundance. his rigging skills are impressive too. its a lot of effort to get good climbing shots like that. like he said, 3 days to get the rig set up. thanks for posting it. :]

How the heck did he get the rope from one mountain across to the other? Boomerang perhaps?

You tie fishing line to a golf ball or a small rock and chuck it as hard as you can, then tie a rope to the fishing line and start hiking your ass over to the other cliff. Thats how we set up a slackline over a 130ft wide gully(700ft off the deck!) here in Squamish. This was one of the first videos i ever shot with my D300s. I left the tripod at home since my bag was already at 60 pounds, so forgive the shoddy camera work:

You could use a cross bow with a fishing line attached to the rope. That's how tree climbers get their rigging into the branches. Fire the bolt, loop the fishing line over to the other side and haul the rope that's attached.

Haven't been to the Blue Mountains since I was a kid I think...and it's only 1.5 hours out of Sydney.

I want a D3S so badly. That video's amazing. And that guy is nuts in Squamish's video. I could never do that. And great photo!
