Hi I'm new to this forum and read that Nikon announced a Black Friday deal for the d7000 with 18-105 kit for $999. Would more experienced forum members offer opinions on weather this second reduction in pricing means that the new model is just around the corner? Is it a good guess that this might mean a new model could be announced prior to the Jan show? And my last question, if they did announce, what would be the typical time frame for how long after that the new model would actually be available?

D7000 replacement is expected, when it will be launched it's only up to Nikon itself.

Yea, the D7000 replacement is a little overdue, but I believe it should come out by the first half of next year (towards the end).
As for the deal, I think it's pretty solid; as you are essentially getting the full kit for a price that was originally the body only. And if you don't want the lens, you can just sell it for $200, leaving you with a brand new body for only around $800.
