Nikon D300 with Nikon CF-D700 Eveready Case

I have a D300 with a AF-S 24-70mm lens attached. This combination is to long for the Nikon CF-D200 Eveready Case.

Has anyone out there tried using the CF-D700 case with this combination? If so how does if fit? I am assuming that it may be a close fit since the D300 and D700 are very similar in size.

I am looking to use this combination for traveling very light and provide some type of protection.

buy a third party bag, You gonna have better protection, try lowepro apex-140 aw (LINK) - it should fit d300 with 24-70/2.8 (hood reversed), and You gonna have some weather protection.
