"The front filter threads do not rotate with focusing"
I have read that statement in lens reviews forever and have yet to ever seen a lens where this is the case - and I have owned somewhere near 50 lenses. Has anyone ever seen one of these or is this the sasquatch of the camera industry?
At least one quite popular lens with this "feature" is older non-OS version of the crappy Sigma 70-300. None of us here uses that i think but it is still very popular among people who buy their first ever camera. First lens in a long path leading to 300 F4 or 2.8 ;)
I've seen a few lenses that do this. They were in a box of used lenses at a garage sale.
Not sure why they even mention the lack of this attribute in lens reviews anymore.
I have not seen a lens released in the last 8 years (when I really focused on photography) where the filter ring moved.
So why in the world do they even bother to mention it?
Wife's 18-55 VR does that. Bizzarre.

Come on boys, give Nikon a break....this is a $200 lens....amazing one can buy a lens from Nikon for this price.... :-)
....and a B & W or Nikon polarizing filter for this will cost $75 anyway.....so it would follow that folks with this lens will most likely not be purchasing an expensive polarizing filter.... I must think like Nikon on this one......LOL
Many cheap kit lenses do it. My 18-55 IS kit lens on my Canon XSi did for instance.
For landscape photography where I use graduated ND filters this is a must have feature (to not rotate). However, anyone that needs this feature isn't going to be looking at cheap lenses that do it so it's kind of a non-issue ;-)
Don't parafocal lenses do this?
