This is a few miles outside of the southwest entrance of Zion national park. 26-image pano at 170mm with a D90. Click for a bigger thumbnail version (the original is 150MP—I think that was overkill ;-).

Absolutely massive. Way bigger that anything I've done. Especially the 26-image part.

Beautiful shot Jonny. I'm traveling to southern Utah in late May and early June. Maybe we could start a new thread with your recommendations for shooting in Utah. I for one would be interested and I am sure others would be too.

Amazing shot, johnnyapple. Makes me wonder why I haven't done something like that myself. Thanks for the inspiration. :]

I'm flattered, Hal, but I have to be honest and say I'm the wrong person to ask. I've got grandparents that live near Moab, so I know southeastern and northern Utah pretty well, but this is the first time I've been to southwestern Utah, which I think is more photogenic. I know it's almost criminal since I live so close, but my excuses are that I've been in college constantly since 2001 and haven't had much time to travel and I do mostly portraits, anyway. edit: Thanks, squamish. Nice shot with the moon.

    Gorgeous everyone, just awesome.

I am on vacation on the Gulf of Mexico. Learning how to shoot in new situations. Question - is this overexposed?

Welcome to the forum, Keney. That's a very nice start.

I like the exposure here, Jessi. And I think it's just the right amount of saturation.

I love how the camera is at pre-falls level there, Kanuck&mdashperfect perspective. Great composition, too. I might burn the brightest part of the image and brighten it overall.

What kind of wacky places are you visiting, skid? I like these most recent colorful posts of yours.

Thanks I shot this in Laos back in 2008. Just after this I went sifting through a stream to get back to the van and got attacked by a whole slew of leeches! Real nasty little suckers. I should have called it a day after getting this shot and I was still dry up til then also...

keney17 – 17 as seventeen years? Ansel Adams would be proud of you
Jessi – it is definitely not overexposed, it is just right for some postproduction work
kanuck – perfect example of Scott Kelby Digital Photography school ;)
Skid – interesting and colorful building too bad you cut upper right corner, I would go a bit more careful with that saturation slider (I cant wait for a Gentoos comment on this) and will balance the blue a bit down

It seams that one can do HDR from hand, 3 bracketed shots in burst and then a bit of postproduction:

Jessi - if you don’t mind I made some minute changes that could improve on your very nice shot a bit.
You should always level the horizon on shots like this one; otherwise your picture will pour out ;)
Viveza is a great tool for applying local brightness adjustments; you should give it a try and play with it

I like the treatment mb. Great shot Kanuck! Well worth the bloodsucking, which makes for a better story anyway.
