I've been keeping an eye on photo charities that have been helping out with Hurricane Sandy-related stuff, and wanted to a: post a few of them here in case anyone's interested, and b: get feedback from the NR community at large for suggestions on good, and reputable, photo charities.

    1. Brandon Stanton, who goes by Humans of New York, has a campaign going on Indiegogo (in conjunction with Tumblr) to raise funds. I'm not going to link it here; you can find it on Google easily enough (trying not to run afoul of the moderators).

    2. For Shore Photos (http://www.forshorephotos.com) is trying to reunite Jersey Shore area residents with their lost photos.

    3. Photographer Will Salomon Orellana, a Help Portrait participant, has an HP-related event coming up for people in NYC who've lost photos, homes, and belongings in the storm; details are on a Facebook group page here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/498860610153588/

    4. On a similar note, Souls.Rebuilt. is also looking for photographers to do family portrait shoots: http://www.soulsrebuilt.com/

Anybody else have any resources/suggestions? They don't need to be Sandy-related; if you're doing photography for a cause, give your cause/org a shout-out.

This as it appears to be a very nice offer of the photographers involved.... and preservation of lost photos can be very meaningful to folks who have lost almost everything.... We can be grateful to those who are helping the victims of a natural disaster.
