Big Picture: 570-Megapixel, Intergalactic Camera
It's only $35 million, though I'm thinking Adorama would probably sell it for $33 million.
Then again, if I wait until next year, I can probably get 600 megapixels and ALFFD (Alien Life Form Face Detection) for only $30 million.
Then I could use that $3 million for a really nice case and some extra memory cards.

It has 74 CCD sensors. I thought you guys said CMOS sensors were the only way to go for low light photography, lol.

I'd just get one on ebay when the LHC forces fermilab to shut down. Which lenses that have a mini cooper-sized image circle are you looking to attach to it when you get it?
Also, I'd make sure 1080p video is listed in the spec sheet.
I heard since its a CCD sensor it has some crazy banding issues
Wow what would the flash look like for this one, I am sure Niko it will be loaded with Rechargeable batteries, cooling fans and maybe even weather proofing to make you happy

500 Terawatts. They pump the lasers with 7,680 xenon flash lamps. Even with all their fancy cooling equipment, they get fewer than 1000 shots per year. What's the guide number for this flash? It had better be in light-years if we're going to get our alien snapshots (we'll have to live without bounce flash, I'm afraid).
with 570Mpx I could photograph african wildlife from Europe :) and still get a nice Full HD picture size :)

That's fine, scattering and reddening from the intergalactic medium will give the flash a nice, warm, not-harsh look by the time it gets to them anyway.
Of course if you are shooting something 30 light years away, you wouldn't be able to take advantage of said flash until 60 year's after it fires... What would that make the maximum sync speed be?

Umm... the usual way ;-)
The LSST will be an amazing telescope when completed. It's expected to produce 20TB of data every night. The plan is to make the data publicly available. One reason Google is a partner.

Did a calculation. the LSST would have a 35mm equivalent focal length of ~700 mm. Just 3.2 gigapixels.
I think the real reason they made this intergalactic camera was because they found some hot alien girls tanning on a beach somewhere in another galaxy :^)
