Wonderfully strong images of our very messy world. Thanks for the link.
Yeah, thanks Adam. For alpha, the parental guide: no nudity/sensuality, but some gore and violence.
That dying videographer one from Myanmar is crazy. He's been shot and he's still got his hand up recording video. I think I'd be in shock and not thinking about documenting the event anymore. I saw one of a photographer stationed with U.S. troops who had his lower leg shot or blown off. While he was being wheeled to the operating room he was sitting up on the gurney and taking pictures of the wounded leg.
I remember the photo of Kenji Nagai as it came through the news wires that day. I feel as though he was attempting to record the face of the soldier who shot him as he laid dying. I don't think anyone was ever held accountable for his death unfortunately.
Lots of good photos but I think they left out a lot more. Could be these are only a collection of Reuter's photographers? Way too much doom and gloom.
I prefer to browse their Dakar Rally pics! Polish driver Krzysztof Holowczyc is doing well at this years race adamz. He's currently up to 6th overall.

I just looked at the photos.
Don't know what to say. So many of them were very depressing :^(
The photojournalists have done their job well.
It's true. So much of the world is depressing. After looking at it, should things like that in the future be labeled 'nsf alpha'?
No, the stuff I don't want to see is the "nudity/sensuality". Also my parents probably don't want me looking at that.
There's nothing wrong with seeing reality though. Especially because my mom grew up in Iran, though the photos of Iran are more recent, I want to truly understand why she came to the U.S.
If you were my kid (thank goodness ur not!) I'd rather you look at the "tame" girly mag stuff than at the gory doom and gloom images on the news.
What kind of reality is that!? That's what you wish was reality; it's not.
I'm with alpha on that.
You're a kid NOW alpha. Enjoy your kid-dom. You've got the rest of your life to know the gory doom and gloom stuff.
Look, I don't want it to hit me hard. If I'm going to live the rest of my life like that, then I might as well as get used to it now.
Besides, I don't want to be "spoiling" myself with any of that magazine "mumbo-jumbo". When the reality of that comes, at least I'll enjoy and appreciate it.
Trust me! Enjoy your life as a kid NOW. Forget about the grown up stuff.
Technically wouldn't that mean me leaving the forum? I'm spending time on a forum hanging around and chatting with a bunch of "adults" ( ;^) ) talking about how I should act. Great.
Let's see, to start, if I were a "kid" my parents wouldn't let me have such nice equipment because a) they wouldn't trust me with it and b) I'd spend half the day playing video games anyway.
Despite what you think you ARE STILL A KID. Except when your dad uses your account to check things out here ;^)
Physically, yes.
Technically, not as much as other kids.
Even then you ARE STILL A KID.
It's not a bad thing...its a very good thing!
Anyway back on topic
So if these photos are so important then why is photojournalism "ranked" so low as a career?
LOL I'll prove you wrong in ten years ;^)
Photojournalism is ranked low because they want to keep it all to themselves!
It's images like these that move me enough to make me want to become a photojournalist...
Then tell me how many of the names of those photojournalist can you recall without cheating and looking back?
Errr...umm...Mc...errr...
OK, I won't hit the back button, but can I hit the forward? ;^)
But why are you asking me about the names? What do the names have to do with it? It's about the images.
Exactly! You can't make a name for yourself in photojournalism. That's the problem. Too many "photojournalist" are in the game now. Especially when everyone and their mother carries a cellphone camera and has as good of a chance to capture an amazing photo as any career journalist :^(
Or worst yet a 13yr old boy with a D300 running around thinking he's Peter Parker gets the shot first.
You see! All you guys ever want to do is make a name for yourself. Who needs that? Go out and do the job because it means something to you. I mean, how many people make a name for themselves anyway? I don't believe in this "famous" nonsense. What will it bring you? If you want to become well know, make a website like KR ;^)
HEY—I never said anything about Peter Parker—that was Pher!
You're missing the point alpha. When I mean name recognition I mean you get paid handsomely for your work. You can't just go running around the world hoping to capture the next photo of the year if you don't make any money!
